Poker celebrity Phil Gordon is
trying to raise $1 million for cancer research in 1 year.
The former businessman turned poker pro is aiming to
raise the money for the American Cancer Research and
Prevention Foundation.
Gordon hopes to raise the money at poker tournaments,
speaking engagements and through the sale of merchandise at the CRPF's official website.

He'll be keeping a blog to let fans know how his fund-raising
efforts are going - while a chart showing how much he's raised
will also be available online. Gordon has been raising funds
for the CRPF, where he is on the board, for several years. He's
challenging poker fans to help him raise the £1 million through
donations. Gordon said:" People who know me know that I
play to win, and I love a challenge. And there is no bigger
challenge than the fight against cancer. "I'm in
this fight to win and I truly believe the best way to make a
real difference is to support the Cancer Research and Prevention
Foundation's work in cancer prevention. "That's why I'm
challenging Americans to help me raise one million dollars by
2007 to support the Foundation's programs." Carolyn
Aldige, president and founder of the CRPF, said:" We are
thrilled to continue working with Phil. "We believe this
is a unique way to not only raise needed funds, but to also call
attention to the fact that prevention is the most promising
weapon we have in the war against cancer." Anyone wanting
to find out more, help Phil raise the $1 million, make a
donation and keep track of the campaigns progress can do so at www.preventcancer.org.
